Ang Pamana – The Inheritance

Director/Writer: Romeo Candido | Producer: Caroline Mangosing
Narrative | 35mm | Colour | 2006 | 110 minutes | Philippines-Canada | Tagalog & English with English subtitles
Johnny De Jesus (Darrell Gamotin) is a typical Canadian teenager – despondent, rebellious, and with no regard for his family. When the De Jesus-Reyes family gets word that their family matriarch Lola (Grandmother) Nena (Caroline Mangosing) has died, Johnny and his prissy older sister Ana (Nadine Villasin) are put in charge of representing their parents in the Philippines for the reading of their Lola’s will and testament. Johnny, a first time balikbayan, sees Manila, from the poorest squatters to the richest of the gated village mansions, with foreign eyes. Dark secrets, shocking revelations, and a world of supernatural forces await . Shot in the Philippines and Canada by award-winning cinematographer Odyssey Flores, ANG PAMANA – THE INHERITANCE is a story about the fears we carry and the ones that refuse to be left behind. It is a modern horror story drawn from age-old Filipino folklore primed to frighten a whole new generation.
