Mighty Asian Shorts

Sat. Nov. 6th, 4:30 PM

Short films have been the backbone of VAFF for the past 13 years and the creative skill and technical expertise of this year’s crop of filmmakers have blurred the quality line between shorts and features. This great program includes Zooey Park’s charming STILL LIFE, Caitlin Byrne’s touching VISITING HOURS, Jason Ho’s cringe-worthy PUNCTURE WOUND, Vincent Lin’s satirical CHASE THOMPSON, A FILM BY CHASE THOMPSON, Tin Pak Lau’s hilarious character study THE REWARD, Matthew Tsang’s unexpectedly romantic WINE AND CHEESE, and first-timer Leanne Yu’s award-winning KO-NI-CHI-WA. These latter 3 films are the winners of this year’s Mighty Asian Moviemaking Marathon competition, VAFF’s annual filmmaker developer program. Filmmakers in attendance will be on hand after the screening to answer questions about their work.
