Kryshan Randel
Filmmaker/Instructor, Pull Focus Film School | Born and raised in BC, Kryshan Randel has been making and watching films for as long as he can remember. He has directed many award winning short films, including JACK which screened at many of the world’s top genre festivals including Sitges, CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival and Fantasia where it won the Silver Audience Choice Award; and was listed by The Shorts Report of one of the best Canadian short films of 2010. Another successful short film GLIMPSE, produced as part of the Directors Guild of Canada / BC Film Kick Start program, premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival and subsequently won the National Screen Institute’s A & E Short Filmmakers Award. Randel is also the creator and producer of the Vancouver-based fast film events The 24 Hour Film Contest and The Great Canadian Commercial Contest; and was Associate Producer of the city’s premier short film-related event Crazy8s. Currently, Kryshan is writing a feature screenplay and directing a variety of projects. More information, and many of his films, can be viewed at www.kryshanrandel.com

Patrick Sabongui
Director/Producer, Life Force Films Inc. | Patrick has been a creative force in the arts since his theatre days in Montreal in the early 90’s. He founded Vanier College’s first classical theatre company and produced and co-directed the school’s first production of a play by William Shakespeare, wherein he also played the title role of Hamlet. Theatre was his first story-telling vehicle. He has continued to break creative ground since then. Commissioned by the University of California, Irvine to participate in and document an ongoing intercultural theatrical exploration over the course of several years in Seoul, Korea and California, he directed the documentary The Birds: Journey of the Pan Pacific Players. Narratives were next, as he continues to transcend genre barriers with each project: Assassin and Pursuit, two short films in the action genre; Chained, a post-apocalyptic re-imagining of ancient Greek mythology; Shakey’s Coffee, a romantic drama inspired by Shakespeare’s literature; The Letter, a coming of age drama set on a First Nations reserve and most recently, he has ventured into new media, directing for web-series including directing second unit on Soldiers of the Apocalypse. A consummate storyteller, when he’s not aiming the camera at others, he’s in front of it or on stage as an actor and stunt performer.

Raahul Singh
VAFF Programmer/Actor/Filmmaker | Born in Fiji, Raahul Singh immigrated to Canada as a child where he grew up playing ice hockey and finding his escape at the cinema watching movies. He is a business graduate; ironically, he caught the theatre bug doing a skit for a marketing course. After graduating, he went on to full time acting studies at the Gastown Actors Studio. Since graduating from theatre school he has been acting professionally in film and theatre across North America. Notable credits include landing a supporting role in Los Angeles for the film The Guru, shot in New York City, then in Toronto as leading man in the award winning independent film, Bollydouble, along with a host of US network TV credits in Vancouver. “Commitment” is his first film as writer/producer/director/actor. Produced with a grant from the NFB, it has screened at festivals across North America and the UK.
