VAFF 15 Retrospective Series
Sunday October 23, 2011

That’s all folks!
The VAFF 15 Retrospective Series came to a close last Wednesday evening with an Artist Spotlight on animator and filmmaker, Jeff Chiba Stearns. It was a packed event at the Alma VanDusen and Peter Kaye Rooms at VPL’s Central Library. Audience members enjoyed a free screening of Jeff’s Yellow Sticky Notes, Ode To a Post-It Note, and the documentary One Big Hapa Family. Jeff was in attendance for a post-screening Q&A that continued well after the doors closed to the library. What a way to end the
Series!
This was the last screening of the VAFF 15 Retrospective Series.
Beginning in June of this year, we hit the rewind button on many of the films that have screened at VAFF in previous years in celebration of this, our 15th anniversary of the Vancouver Asian Film Festival. Previous screenings in the series, presented at various other VPL branches (Kensington, Mount Pleasant, Fraserview, and Champlain Heights) included a selection of “Identity Docs”, a showcase of our “Local Heroes: Jason Karman, Nilesh Patel, and Julia Kwan”, films about “Fitting In”, and a collection of “All Asian Animations”.
And now that that’s complete, next up: VAFF 2011! See you at the festival – Nov 3-6 at Cineplex Odeon International Village Cinemas.
